The first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Captain Marvel debuted this morning on Good Morning America and it brought the heat. Brie Larson appears to have been perfectly cast in the title role, and if the trailer is any indication, Captain Marvel should be a lot of fun.
The film follows Larson’s Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, an Air Force pilot whose DNA becomes fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with superpowers that appear to be put to use as she finds herself in the middle of an intergalactic alien conflict.
Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg both return as Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson respectively. Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou will also reprise their Guardians of the Galaxy roles of the Kree villain Ronan the Accuser and his henchman Korath the Pursuer. New to the MCU is Jude Law as Danvers’ mentor (still unnamed, although all signs point to the comic character Mar-vell), and Annette Bening, also in an undisclosed role.
Captain Marvel is scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
