E3 2018: Fire Emblem Three Houses Revealed

After being announced back in 2016, the latest entry in the Fire Emblem series for the Nintendo Switch was finally revealed at this year’s E3 during Nintendo’s Direct. The new game, titled Fire Emblem: Three Houses, is looking to be much larger in scale than previous games in the series. This should help the long-running series take advantage of the Switch’s hardware. And while the game’s tactic based gameplay is seemingly intact, it appears that it will come with a new look.

The gameplay that was revealed showed a layout familiar to longtime fans with something a bit new: each unit you move around is actually a small group of soldiers being led by one of the games many characters. This new touch helps makes the battles fought in the game much larger in scale. Along with the new look to combat, it seems like you can now move around characters outside of battle. In a small section of the trailer, we see one of the game’s characters run around a small town and interact with a solder, possibly hinting at more gameplay elements outside of the turn-based battles.

Not much was revealed at this time about the game’s story or characters, but there seems to be plenty of time for that to be showcased. The game is set to be released in spring 2019.
